Free school fails children

Today when the Guardian published a an article about damning report by OFSTED on one of Gove’s pioneering “free schools” I found myself wondering whether they will now be forced to become an academy like Downhills or Roke neither of which received the lowest possible “inadequate grading”. Free schools are a risky experiment backed up by limited evidence, they are also part of Gove’s concerted attempt to de-professionalise teaching. We wouldn’t allow someone to become an obstetrician just because they have had children, so why do we put up with unqualified teachers running schools?
